Overview

Journē (formerly VMOBIL Lab Journey) is a modern, highly customizable public transport app originally developed for Vorarlberg’s Verkehrsverbund. Built entirely from scratch in SwiftUI, it combines intuitive design with powerful routing features. As the sole iOS developer and UI/UX designer, I was responsible for both the technical foundation and the user experience – from prototyping to implementation.

Design Goal

To create an effortless, visually refined app that makes navigating public transport feel natural, smart, and personal. Even for first-time users. Core priorities included clarity, animation-driven feedback, and a smooth search-to-result journey that works without accounts or onboarding friction, while offering more customization options for users to tailor the interface to their needs.

Feature Highlights & Approach

• Route planning with map-based search and real-time data

• Favorites, shortcuts, and recently searched connections stored locally

• Customizable, gesture-friendly UI built in SwiftUI with minimal taps and microinteractions

• More polished visuals, typography, and animations for a refined look and feel

The original VMOBIL Lab Journey app has been sunset. To avoid product confusion, I am continuing independently under the new name Journē.
